The Market is going to be bursting with independent stalls, food businesses, makers and creators, the modern new market aims to bring fresh life into the heart of the town, offering a truly welcoming space where people can shop local, try new food and support Oldham talent. Sitting on the former TJ Hughes store site, around 50 traders have moved into the new venue.

The Market spans two levels — a top floor connecting to The Spindles shopping centre, and a lower floor with an entrance on Parliament Square, opposite Molino Lounge. The opening hours are 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Saturday.

The opening also signals the end of an era for Tommyfield Market. The name ‘Tommyfield’ will live on however, as it will be given to a new town centre park to be built on the old market’s site.

The opening marks a key milestone in Oldham’s £450 million town centre regeneration programme — a once-in-a-generation investment reshaping the town through new homes, jobs, and greener spaces.

Council leader Cllr Arooj Shah said: “This is a huge moment for Oldham. Our new market is about backing our amazing local traders, giving them a space they deserve, and bringing a wave of fresh energy into the centre of our town.”

Come along & be part of Oldham’s next chapter!
